Simply put, I love dogs. I am involved in their rescue where I live, when I can. I have seen a great deal of cruelty and indifference towards many of their kind. When dealing with these types of issues one gets to see the dark side that certain people can have. It frustrates me to no end. The reality is that cruelty has lurked in the darkness as far back as humanity goes; whether it be towards animals, nature or each other. I ask myself why and will we ever evolve into a more humane species? Obviously, this is a rhetorical question. However, I can’t stop doing what I do, hoping that my own actions are a step towards that evolution.
My
involvement in animal rescue is voluntary.
I have been doing it for 15 years and if I let it, it can take up all of
my time. I live in a small town in the southwest
of Greece. Strays are common as is
cruelty towards animals. What people will see here won’t always be pleasant. That, however, is the way it is. Perhaps, some won’t be able to take it and will
turn away. My feelings are that in
turning away the issue gets ignored. I
ask that the plight of these animals not be ignored. I won’t turn away from a being that needs
help, human or non. In the end it is definitely
worth it for the few creatures that are truly saved. Those times are joyous.
Welcome to, For
The Strays.
( I must add that, as with most things in life, one cannot accomplish great acts alone. Around me are some pretty amazing people. Perhaps you may want to become one of them. If at anytime you feel you can help, simply leave me a comment.)
